PLAYAS DE URIBE_KOSTA

Speculative realism has over the last few years appeared as a new radical mode of thinking or rethinking philosophy.

A number of philosophers have arrived to similar concepts on how to articulate essential questions answering to strong differentiations of how to address and understand the world, the origin of thought and the possibility of being non-human.

This course focuses on the specific and unorthodox writing of Reza Negarestani, an Iranian philosopher living and working in Malaysia.

His recent debut "Cyclonopedia" (2008) has opened new strata between philosophy and fiction, between speculation and archeology, between the state and war machines, between death-drive and being non-human, all compressed into a remix of horror, geo-politics and endless twists of narration and thought.

Negarestani is in his book and accidental texts entering a completely foreign territory of approaching production of theory as well as bringing new perspectives on politics, production and love.

Reza Negarestani is not a writer on dance and choreography but his thinking on production and aesthetics appear particularly relevant to performative practices today.
